“Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination and the journey. They are home.” Anna Quidlen

Another month passed and gladly I finished 6 books. My initial goal was 8, but they were days that I managed to read around 25pages or less. I need to work on my reading consistency, as in reading at leas 50pages per day and if I feel like reading more, great!

Here are the books I’ve read this month:

  • “The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night-time” by Mark Haddon
  • “The Marathon Man” by Bill Rodgers
  • “A Wild Sheep Chase” by Haruki Murakami
  • “Dance Dance Dance” by Haruki Murakami
  • “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood
  • “Mile Markers: 26.2 most important reasons why women run” by Kristin Armstrong

All of the mentioned books were total success! I enjoyed every single one of them, but if I had to recommend one book from this month for you to read it would definitely be “The Handmaid’s Tale”. I was absolutely terrified and thrilled. It greatly reminded me of “1984” by George Orwell, but let’s say the situation was way worse than in 1984. I can’t believe that I wrote that sentence, but I did it!

I finished The Rat’s series by Haruki Murakami with “A wild Sheep chase” and “Dance Dance Dance”! What a great series, the first one was “Hear the Wind Sing” and the second one was “Pinball, 1973”. If you are unfamiliar with Haruki Murakami, maybe start with either “Kafka on the shore” or “Norwegian wood” then proceed with the series. He has a unique style. Either people love it or hate it. I, thank goodness, love him!

Also read two books about running “The Marathon Man” and “Mile markers:..”. Both were great, however I enjoyed “The Marathon Man” a little bit more, Bill Rodgers is a legend, while Kristin is a good runner and her life is pretty awesome, but I rather get insight of the winner’s head, Bill had a next-level running routine and that’s so captivating and intriguing. Not that I hope to win any major race in my lifetime, I hope I’ll be like Kristin though.

And from all of these books I just couldn’t get enough off “The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night-time”. This was such a special book about a special person named Christopher. I love books that are different than we are used to and also gives a good perspective about people whose brains are wired in a different way. The story was so unique with a plot twist, it made it even more interesting.
Prior to this I read the book “The Rosie Project” and “The Rosie Effect” by Graeme Simsion, where the character had the same syndrome, but I think this story gave me a better insight about the syndrome, more realistic than the books I mentioned.
I applaud authors who write about people like Christopher, we need to know more if we come across to some like him 🙂

Also, I find that writing down your books in some sort of journal a great way to motivate. For the next blog post, I will write down the books I plan (hope) I will read in July.

Next time, book lovers ^_^
